Hi,
I'm looking for opinions about what spark plugs should look like when everything is right with engine. I grew up being taught that plugs should be a nice even light brown (tan) in color when the engine was tuned properly. I have not been able to cause this in my TC, I'm now wondering if I am looking for the correct indications. TC6761 is a stock engine other than it was bored .100 over sometime in the past. The car operates at an average of 3500 feet altitude. I have put the "lean" needles in the carbs. The timing, points and valve clearence are all at standard settings. With all of this, the best I've been able to get are plugs that are sooty black. They are dry but sooty and black. Oh, one other thing, I run "hi-test" (93) gas. From all of you I would hope to get a feeling of what should be normally expected when looking at the plugs.
 Thanks all,
 Bud Bradford
