Go to a regional forum on advrider.com or klr650.net (if someone here doesn't pipe up first) and see if you can't find a tech day near you. The worst thing that can happen is you will get some coaching on how to do the job yourself, with experienced hands available to backstop you if you run into trouble. If you are lucky, someone will be unable to resist jumping in and doing the job for you. In any event, you will have a good time and meet some fellow KLRists. It has been a long time since anyone posted here about finding a mechanic to do a valve adjustment. In the days when a lot of guys asked that question, these pages were full of tales about unscrupulous dealers who would never actually touch your bike but still charge you a hundred or two for adjusting the valves. If you do find someone to do the job for you, ask him to record your valve clearances and shim sizes both as found and after replacing any shims. He could still BS you, but he'd have to gamble that you would never lift the cam cover yourself to check his work.

NOTICE The "wecome to" in the subject line, Emails, look like ANOUTHER one to avoid. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
