Hi group, I presently don't own a KLR650 yet however as soon as I get my tax return I will be in the market for one. One question I do have is can I paint the plastic on a KLR? I would like to paint my bike a desert tan and I was wondering how well the spray paint will hold up? thanks Dan..

Dan, I think folks have had pretty good luck painting the plastics on the 87-07 bikes with Krylon Fusion rattle can paint. I haven't personally tried painting the plastics on a KLR. #ygrps-yiv-1647072928 p {margin:0;}Getting it to stick and stay is about prep.  Sand first with 220 to give some mechanical adhesion, then wipe with alcohol to remove any mold release or oily residue.  Then spray a coat of adhesion promoter.  Then any topcoat will stick better. Make sure you use a paint that has a flex additive so the flexion of the plastic will not crack it. -Jeff Khoury

Just go with bedliner black on the plastic and leave your creative work on the metal tank. The bedliner paint fits the KLR personality and is easy to add more when you get the inevital scratches. Paint the tank any way you want or get Jesse James to paint it. He may need the work soon as Sandra is most likely in a highly aggotated state and might be vindicative. Criswell  Sent from my iPhone

Dear Sandra, Did you REALLY think somebody with tattoos from head to toe was going to be the perfect husband? Seriously? Robert P. Wichert P.Eng +1 916 966 9060 FAX +1 916 966 9068 ========================================================
