I have an '08 KLR650, a few weeks ago we had very strong storms here in the Dallas area and they blew over my covered bike onto the sidewalk. It was parked with a soft cover with the steering locked to the left. I just got around to riding it and the handle bars and fork top appear slightly turned to the left when going straight. If I hold it so it appears straight, the bike tries to turn right. Its not off by much but just enough to notice. Any like experiences with a KLR that has fallen over? It's possible that your bars got bent, but the more likely scenario is that the forks twisted in the triple clamps. Loosen the bolts on the top clamp and with the wheel between your legs or against a post/pole/immovable object, turn the bars til they look straight. Tighten the bolts again and you're good to go. Some have done this procedure without loosening any bolts, but if you can do that on your bike, methinks the bolts are too loose to begin with... da Vermonster

Yup! smacked up mine pretty good on my '01 last time I was offroad... Just had to loosen up the tripple trees and make everything normal. Sounds like your triple clamp wasnt quite tight enough.... or maybe you bent your bars :-|

Here's one more vote for "slightly twisted in the clamps". Just run the right side of your wheel up to the left side of your garage. Grab the bars and twist them to the right. If it's not quite straight the first time, try again. Once it's straight, you might want to torque your triple clamp bolts to 18 ft/lb, but if you just want to tweak it straight and ride it for a while first, I guess that'd be okay.

oil- tried some different stuff

Yes, Mobile 1 is far superior to conventional motor oils. I use conventional motor oil for the first 2000 miles on a new engine to break it in. Then, (because I don't want to keep breaking it in until it wears out), switch to Mobile 1. I started a Mobil 1 experiment about 7 years ago on my 94 Regal and a 98 Windstar. Both cars had 90,000 miles on them. The Regal burned a quart of oil every 5,000 miles, the Windstar every 10,000 miles. I changed oil and filter every 10.000 miles. Now with 190,000 on the Regal and 285,000 on the Windstar, oil consumption has not changed nor has either car required any engine work. As far as I can tell, the engines just stopped wearing. I only put about 4K a year on my 07 KLR, so with Mobil 1, I expect the engine will last FOREVER. Craig Kahler

I use Mobil 1 MX4T Motorcycle Specific full synthetic oil. New filter with every change at 3,000 or so miles. Is my way the right way? Is my way the only way? Don't know. But I do know that I have had tremendous luck in all my vehicles using Mobil 1. I think it is the king of lubricants. The KLR and oil type, amount and change frequency: Motor oil, enough and when you need to. and... "It's a KLR, not a space shuttle" My personal regimen: Castrol Syntech 10w40 every 3000 miles. New filter every other change, and I keep it filled to the top line on the sight glass. Some people say not to use synthetic, but I've used it pretty much since its introduction and I've never had a problem with the clutch or a mechanical problem with the engine. I think oil is good for the bike. New oil is really good for the bike. Never had a noticeable problem with any of them. da Vermonster --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogro ups.com , "Robert Waters" wrote: > > > Wal-Mart had a sale on Moble Delvac 15-40 oil when I went to get some > Shell 15-40.
