I've just never understood side-hacks, a trike makes more sense to me
or even a trailer. I've always thought of them as "Oh hmm my
motorcycle isn't nearly dangerous enough, maybe I should try removing
all the maneuverability for more challenge.".

A sidecar with an experiemced driver and competent passenger, a.k.a
monkey, can be a very capable machine giving plenty of stability in
situations a conventioanl two wheeled rig would simply fail, i.e.
sand, snow, ice, mud.
A trike is just plain dangerous no matter who is at the bars.
Cornering and avoidance maneuvering is all but gone with a trike were
as even a mediocre hack driver can fly the car with success. I can
sell side cars in good conscience. I wouldn't be able to sleep at
night if I sold selling trikes
FWIW. IMZ, the manufacturer of the Ural sidecar outfit, has just
agreed to send 1500 Ural Patrols and Gear Ups (2wd sidecar machines)
to Iraq for law enforcement purposes. The Iraqis didn't ask for
trikes or ATVs. There is a reason for that.

Awhile back there was some discussions about attaching a sidecar to a klr. I
was reminded of this when reading a recent article in Rider. The main topic
was a Ural rig off pavement but they mentioned a rally where two klrs with
sidecars showed up. I had an email from a lister volunteering information on
klrs and sidecars but I can't find it. If anyone has any knowledge of this
subject I'd sure appreciate hearing from them.

I just don't think the KLR has enough brakes to deal with a
sidecar ......... but .... on the other hand, we KLRistas tend to
overload them already (including me).

Don't know anything other than what I've read. They might even have a
leading link front end for the KLR or have a link to where they can be

...neither does a Jawa 362. We bike nuts will ride anything - almost.

You are correct on that. I rode a Cushman Highlander as a kid. No
power, no brakes, no suspension, no tranny, not much of nothing ....
but it wen Kachink, kachink, kachink .... blam, blam (which tends to
grow on a bike nut). The heater and air conditioner sucked (depending
on the time of year).
