Why bother with a limited-use box-end wrench? The best combo would be the 7" or 10" Knipex Cobra pliers: http://www.kk.org/cooltools/archives/000655.php> Strong lightweight German quality. I've been using the Knipex pliers on my KLR axle nuts for over 10 years. They'll leave tool marks on the flats, so if you're worried your KLR might not win a ribbon at the bike show... but they don't distort the nut, so getting the right sized socket on the nut in the future is not an issue. I carry a pair of Knipex pliers, and they do work, but I don't like to gouge the flats on my axle nuts if I can avoid it. Of course, as a kid i always used pliers on nuts, but over time I learned to cringe at the sight of such butchery. They would be great as part of a minimalist emergency tool kit, though.
