A few years ago I was closely following the Ariel Atom, and got on the
mailing list of the pending U.S. supplier. Once these Atoms became
available in the U.S. their price far exceeded my expectations, but I
remained on the list. Below is a notice I received from them today
regarding an upcoming electric bike. Not too bad looking for this sort of
thing. 45 mile range, 50mph top speed, clutchless, 275lb, 3-hr 110v
recharge, etc. Won't take the place of normal motorcycles for most
purposes but I guess it could find its niche in a variety of urban/commuter
settings. Encouraging, though - with the relentless march of technology
maybe soon there could be available electric bikes with a cost/performance
ratio that makes them attractive to a wide variety of consumers. I can't
get the autos.msn link to work, but maybe you can.

and SNIP Interesting AD. and very well done. This first link, and the following liks are missing some critical data: 1)How many charges/cycle will the battery accept? 2) Its three hour 'range'--at what speed/load? 3)What is the replacement cost of a battery? substantial I would think In marketing:they should offer some to be used in a widly watched TV show, ie LOST or CSI--and really make it a 'environmentally positive' motorcycle. The stealth side of the bike comes to mind. The buyer: The appeal would go to some urban center; SF, or Miami where there is a monied crowd, desiring to purchase the newest-trendy gadget. :. 'and if you buy this bike--(and you vote Democrat/Republican- cough--proof of vote required) we will give you $7,000 of IRS energy credit for the first year of the bike> interested, you can visit the Enertia Mini-Site at > http://www.enertiabike.com/.
