klr650 wiki
hello this is just to inform everybody that there
is a wiki on the klr650 located at
http://klr650.wikia.com
But as of right now there is nothing there. i will add what i know as
i can, but i will be starting a cross canada bike trip soon and will
not be around a computer for a month and a half.
EVERYONE can add and edit information on the wiki.
and if Dr. Chris Krok reads this i would like his permission to "part
out" the klr faq and add it to the wiki
if anyone is interested in administering the faq while im gone let
me know and i can send you whatever information i have.
ride fun.

The only big problem I see with duplicating the FAQ is then you end up with two sources of info - and if they become 'out of sync' then which one do you follow? At some point I'm going to open up public access to my KLR resource wiki but I don't intend to reproduce any of the FAQ... it's basically just a link dump right now. I'd be willing to setup another Mediawiki install if there was any interest in *moving* the FAQ to a wiki type format (but I wouldn't do that without Chris' approval) - I could even register a URL "klr650faq.org" or something along those lines. -- Jim Priest - central NC - 04 KLR650 'Gonzo' Checkout the KLR Resource List and Master Tool List http://www.thecrumb.com/wiki/KLR650_resources http://www.thecrumb.com/wiki/Master_tool_list> and if Dr. Chris Krok reads this i would like his permission to "part > out" the klr faq and add it to the wiki

shimcalc for mac?
I'm not a MAC compatable guy so I'm not sure of this but I think I
remember that the newer MAC operating systems will run windows apps
like excel. If it will I wrote a small excel sheet that will do the
shim calc for you in with both inches or mm inputs. It will give you
the "ideal" shim size ie. the thickest shim that will fit without
being out of spec. It's not pretty but I checked it with various
sizes and it works. I'll be more then happy to send a copy if you
want it, just email me directly. It's pretty no-brain to use if you
use excel and I can send a quick how to if you haven't used excel.
I looked at the ShimCalc program and would definitely have bought
it but I had my bike apart and if I remember right you couldn't pay
by credit card so since I needed it right then I just used excel.
Have a great day.....Greg
