If I had it to do over again I'd buy the KLR but also get a better
street bike for the commute. As stated before droning along in top
gear is not to much fun and the bike is maxed out at 85MPH she will
go faster but it's not like you can twist it and do a 95MPH pass. she
just doesn't have the power for that. and she was never designed to
do it. Though she will cruise rather nicely at anything less then 80.
Major work is a rare thing on these bike so long as you take care of
it.
They are a good bike over all not a great street bike not a great
dirt bike and not a great adventure bike either with out some
farkling. She's a middle of the road bike, not to expensive, not to
much power, heavy enough to handle the freeway, but light enough for
the novice, good gas milage, relativly easy to maintane. She is not a
trendy bike like the new hot shit rice rockets so the chance of it
getting stolen are pretty low.
