SV650 or DL650 (Wee-strom)? Has Suzuki made anything other than the above two bikes with the 650cc v-twin engine? He is a short kid, around 5'5", and he looked perfect on the little 'Zuki. I sat on the thing and I looked like I was riding a freakin' mini-bike. I think though that it was the "S" version, which has higher pegs than the unfaired version, so that may be the difference...

If I had it to do over again I'd buy the KLR but also get a better street bike for the commute. As stated before droning along in top gear is not to much fun and the bike is maxed out at 85MPH she will go faster but it's not like you can twist it and do a 95MPH pass. she just doesn't have the power for that. and she was never designed to do it. Though she will cruise rather nicely at anything less then 80. Major work is a rare thing on these bike so long as you take care of it. They are a good bike over all not a great street bike not a great dirt bike and not a great adventure bike either with out some farkling. She's a middle of the road bike, not to expensive, not to much power, heavy enough to handle the freeway, but light enough for the novice, good gas milage, relativly easy to maintane. She is not a trendy bike like the new hot shit rice rockets so the chance of it getting stolen are pretty low. And you have all the helpfull advice of all the schmucks here Kerry --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "bertgamble2001" wrote:

frequent headlight blowing

her question I would ask is, are any of your other lamps going dim to bright, especialy related to engine RPM. Use the volt meter with the bike running. From Idle, you should have close to battery voltage, maybe around 11 VDC. As you rev up the motor around 2000 RPM the generator should have kicked in and gone around 13VDC. Take it up to about 5000RPM, the voltage should not go much higher than 14 - 14.5 VDC, if you go up past that you probably have a prblem with the voltage regulator. Wiring on the headlight plug could cause this if an intermittant connection is causing high to low resitance causeing voltage spikes. Hope this helps.. -Max 90KLR,79KZ,84KX ____________________________________________________________________________________Get the Yahoo! toolbar and be alerted to new email wherever you're surfing. http://new.toolbar.yahoo.com/toolbar/features/mail/index.php
