(shrug) Sometimes the farkle we install is just farkle, not a measurable improvement for 'all applications.' The center stand is another application where the various expectations are varied, due to its intended use/abuse. revmaaatin. ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Fred carries a *ton* of excellent KLR gear and I have been *extremely* pleased in my transactions with him, but I have to agree that the UFO low fender is just not a quality item. I've heard of several people having installation hassles with them, and as I stated previously, the overall quality, fit, and finish leaves a lot to be desired. Although I am not a fan of Craig Vetter's fairings from a purely aesthetic standpoint, I bet he can design a front fender that is much better than the UFO. I found Mr. Vetter's post in regards to his focus on designing fairings for the rider as opposed to the bike very interesting. I once had a Suzuki GS-850 with a Vetter Windjammer fairing. It wasn't the prettiest fairing, but it *was* extremely functional, effective, and very high quality. For me to really like a fairing, however, it has to be designed *both* for the bike and the rider. Maybe this involves some degree of compromise, but I will not apologize for admitting that how a bike looks is also important to me. ed A17

Hi Dail, The devil is in the details, and "a piece of crap" is somewhat a vauge descriptor, even if you use caps to describe -shrug- (SMILE). Twisted and unable to center is easier to visualize, and at that point, perhaps the manufacturer would like to know your concern. I'm right there with you, if I buy it, I expect it to work on the frist attempt. revmaaatin.> I call it > "a piece of crap" >

I've always heard the UFO fender requires a bit of trimming to fit - I don't think it's intended as a direct replacement... http://www.cs.princeton.edu/~lbauer/klr/low-fender/ Interesting to note that Lujo says he didn't notice much improvement in handling after installing the low fender... I didn't hurt my bike either. I seem to have cushioned its fall.
