clutch concerns
Hi All,
I have a potential buyer for my 2001 KLR 650
(http://newjersey.craigslist.org/mcy/200663104.html). After a test
ride his only concern was the clutch. There is too much play at the
clutch lever, about an inch. He feels it may be indicative of clutch
wear and that it will need replacing soon. With less than 9k on the
bike I think the cable just needs to be adjusted.
How can we fairly determine who is right?
Thanks in advance,
Brian

clutch concerns
Brian,
Adjust the clutch cable then let him ride it again. The clutch on the
KLR is not a weak point and at 50,000 miles I notice no slippage on
mine despite much abuse and running Mobile 1 auto oil ;^).
If be balks look for another buyer.

I think it goes the other way: a wearing clutch uses up free play. At least I suspect that is why I can't seem to maintain free play in my cable. (Please correct me if I'm mistaken here).
