excess vibration

Post by gorm_larsen » Sun May 14, 2006 8:56 pm

Not trying to start a new vibration thread here, but lately I have gotten more than normal vibration on my 2005 KLR. I just changed the chain and sprockets, didn't help, adjusted my after market Eagle doohickey and even tapped the adjustment bolt lightly to make sure it moved and checked my engine mounting bolts. One of them was not exactly loose but I could tighten it almost half a turn. The only thing left that has to be done is getting the valves checked after the last 14,000 kms. Could an out of spec (tight) valve cause excessive vibration? Gorm L., BC, Canada

Fred has 17 inch heavy duty tubes. http://www.arrowheadmotorsports.com/ "E.L. Green" wrote: I regularly swap between dirt tires and street tires on my KLR. What I find is that if you're using an 18" super-heavy-duty tube in the rear, where you need to balance depends upon where the heavier part of the tube ends up when it inflates and stretches out, not the tire. Maybe that's because the heavy-duty tube in the front tire is a 21" tube just like the tire, thus stretches evenly. -E Archive Quicksearch at: http://www.angelfire.com/ut/moab/klr650_data_search.html List sponsored by Dual Sport News at: www.dualsportnews.com List FAQ courtesy of Chris Krok at: www.bigcee.com/klr650faq.html Member Map at: http://www.frappr.com/dsnklr650 Yahoo! Have you checked the engine mount bolts? Walt
