exhaust advice
Of course those with conservative or stock jetting can use the stock pipe.
How does that relate to the question about the best "aftermarket" exhaust
for a KLR with a stage-2 kit?
I like to mod because I think of my bike as more of a hobby, project and
learning experience. Especially the latter. Maybe, although I doubt it,
your KLR is perfectly tuned, thats great....I'll keep trying different
setups until mine is too.
John
PS. On the mpg question. Once you install a fusion plant on your KLR you
can talk down to me about efficiency. Until then I suggest buying shares of
XOM.

Arden,
If you're getting a popping on deceleration, check the exhaust header
pipe
nuts and the clamp between the header pipe and the muffler. I've had
both
come loose and cause it.

Bogdan,
A byline is nice, but it's more a testament to writing ability and
persistence than mechanical expertise. I'm a rider, not a tuner.
Still, I did manage a few years back to install my jet kit without
wrecking anything on my A11, including the mileage. My main reason
for the jet kit was to quell a surging at 4000 rpm, not to make more
power. I don't have my little KLR diary with me, but as I recall I
made a conservative installation by using the Dynojetneedle and
drilling the slide, but keeping the stock main jet. I can't say I've
had this one to triple digits (that's why I keep my VFR), but it's
been close. Gas mileage with normal commuting (5000 rpm) and town
riding is around 50. More if I just putt around on back roads. It
runs just fine except for some poppity-pop on decleration that
started in the last 1000 miles or so.
When are you going to start marketing those cool mirror mounts,
Bogdan?

I'm flattered but not me. Anyone is welcome to steal the idea. Mike Colishaw - to name one - could produce them in short order. Bogdan> > When are you going to start marketing those cool mirror mounts, > Bogdan? > > __Arden

It even did fine on ESR with a little extra clutch. But, riding up to
ESR, it was a godsend
