bodywork - left side radiator shroud

Post by thumbtrap43 » Sun Oct 30, 2005 9:14 pm

Piece tried to fly off today, after getting home it seems I completely lost the two bolts that mount radiator shroud on the left side. I'm not sure what else. I pulled a bolt from the right side and they dont match, there are no threads in the tab, and it's definately not a 6mm anything (6mm-1.0 x 16mm w/ captive washer on the right side). I can secure it, but just wondering if someone can shoot me a pic of the area to make sure I didn't lose anything more.

bodywork - left side radiator shroud

Thumbtrap43, I think all you lost were the bolts and nuts. I don't have a stock set up on mine as I replaced the hardware with stainless. I put the bolt in from the rear so the nut is in the front and easy to hold. I use a long #2 phillips screwdriver to tighten the bolt. I think I'm also using lock washers in this application. centerstand and swingarm lube

The centerstand (Afrika, KLR.com) works great. However, it squeezes the frame enough that getting the Unitrack lever in and out is nearly impossible. So, if you have a centerstand, you should probably consider removing it and using a motorcycle lift when performing swingarm maintainance.
