Although it's true that the KLR power cannot be "wildly" increased, and Eric means well I'm sure, the above statement is not correct. I am one of the guys that has done extensive work to the KLR and have found little ways to make more power, or torque. Yes, they are small things, and you must really search for them, but if you do a whole bunch of little things, it adds up to a very "noticable" difference. I see and hear many many owners doing lots of things to the bike that make it slower like not breaking in the motor correctly, adding weight, saddle bags and panniers, screwing up the jetting, putting a 16 tooth countershaft sprocket on, just to name a few. Some folks want that, or don't mind that, and that is fine. But if you want your KLR to be the strongest in can be, and to go the fastest that it can, the first thing to do is to NOT do things to slow it down, and/or reverse the things that have been done. Just remember we are talking KLR power here. When you have one that is not laden with extra weight, and EVERYTHING has been tweeked just right, you will have a lot faster bike than you would think. Every time I switch KLR's with someone, they notice how much quicker my bike feels and picks up speed, while I notice that there's is feeling a little, to a lot slower. It's all in the details my friend, alllllllll in the details. MrMoose A8 (Barbie and Ken special)> useful. > -E
