2005 prices - what did you pay?

Post by Billy Watson » Mon Nov 08, 2004 7:01 pm

First post. Here's the question: "How much did you pay, OUT THE DOOR, for your 2004 or 2005 KLR? Bike, tax, assy, freight. Kawasaki says $5099 for MSRP plus tax, assy freight... but in the real world, what did you pay? I'm looking at used and new to compare prices and want to be sure I'm estimating what's the right cost estimate for a new one to make the right choice. Its easy to get about $5800 on paper (MSRP of $5099, tax of $413 in my case, assy and freight - then I'd still have to add registration and all. But I'll have to pay registration and plates and all either way so I'm ignoring that in this "out the door price". Anyone going home for 5000, or is it really closer to that 5800 number? Thanks for the help, short story to follow in the next post. Bill --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Check out the new Yahoo! 2005 prices - what did you pay?

May the 22nd 2004 I bought my A18 (2004 KLR) in London Ky. I paid $5,100 That included all taxes title fees and tags. They preped it for me and I rode it home the first day I saw it. I could not talk them into throwing in a helmet, so I had to ride home without one. But, it is legal here in Ky to ride without a helmet, although that was the last time I rode without the helmet. Now I have 7800 miles on it and have not taken it back to that dwaler for anything. I took it to the local Kawasaki dealer for the 600 mile service. After following this site and gr8 bunch of fellow KLR owners I will do all the work on it my self. The local dealer (he lives next to my uncle) told me he would have had to give $4,400 to the london dealer, if I had bought the bike from him, and him buy it from the dealer in London. How true that is I don't know.(I think MC dealers are like used car salesmen.) Joe SE Ky A18 7800 --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, Billy Watson wrote:

2005 prices - what did you pay?

Hi Bill, welcome to the list. I am a newbie too. My first motorcycle was an '83 XL250. Rode the heck out of it, and then trained my wife-to-be on it! Fun bikes, those XL's. I bought a 2005 KLR in September: I paid $4969 + $67 dealer fees + ~$300 sales tax = $5336. Cheers, -Matt

Bill, I don't know where you live, but I can get everything here in the Dallas, TX area for $5000 out the door. Including the plates and registration. State and city taxes are about 8% combined. Hope this helps. Jim, aka~ Sparky~ Grumpy 2003 KLR 650 2003 GL1800 Dirt Bagger VROC SCRC In a message dated 11/8/2004 7:05:14 PM Central Standard Time, gcurve2000@... writes: First post. I bought my 04' in June of 04' at a local dealer that had two 650s. My out-the-door price was right at $4800 which included a tank bag and saddle bags. This price included sales tax. Todd --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, Billy Watson wrote:

Ya gotta love it. He has no telephone but does have e-mail. If I had the time and inclination I would play along for fun. I saw an interesting website recently about how you can have fun with idiots like this. Wish I could remember what it was. --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "Harry Seifert" wrote:
