turn signal troubles

Turn signals have surrendered the ghost. Anyone know where the flasher/relay hides out so I can bypass and see it's the culprit? Looked under seat and around dash area, no joy. TIA Mike T Sarasota, Fl '94 DirtyBarbie

Wal-mart had a flasher relay that fit the plug perfect Still going after a few days. Price $1.98! It's round instead of rectangular, used a tie-wrap to zip it to the oem mount spot.Wallyworld also had nylon backpacks on sale $5 so now I got a set of poor-mans tank panniers. Mike T

turn signal troubles

Greetings, I am having trouble with an aftermarket turn signal setup. In back I have a LED stop/running/turn signal combo and up front some small "marker" lights that you'd normally put on a sportbike. Everything works when you hit the switch either way but there's no blinking, they just stay on. I replaced the relay thinking that was it. Still nothing. Is this a grounding problem somewhere? I really want to keep this setup because there's nothing to break-off on a fall like the stock ones. Bonsall Baron

LED bulbs do not draw enough power to make the flasher operate, try replacing with a timer type, somebody should pipe in and tell you where to find one. Dooden A15 Green Ape

I got my digital flasher from Pepboys - will flash at very low amp rates. I figure the same is available from Autozone, Krager, etc... Cost a bit more, but will trigger LED lamps. FWIW, DOT compliance is based on the bulb/housing, not the flasher - this may be relevant in legal action if the attorney knows his business enough to check. My client base is attorney-based. I decided to stick w/ DOT turn signals because of what I learned from them in past liability matters in the courts of Nevada. __________________________________________________________________- True. I read that somewhere that if you run non-DOT turnsignals and someone hits you (behind-front) and you make it a point that your turnsignals were on, the kind of attorney Mike speaks of checks and there is no DOT endorsement on there, you're in trouble. The legal issue also includes this bit of info - The smart attorneys look for factory placement and illumination equivalence when substitute signals/lamps are used. In case you are wondering, I use stock turn signals, with factory-spec light bulbs. I was going to do the mods last year for LED / close housing mounts, but case law proved it to be an unwise option. Try an electronic turn signal flasher. My LED lights wouldn't flash until I installed one. BEAN

Larry, Its the folks at ACNMW.COM, the clamp you are referring to can be seen at http://www.acnmw.com/acnprod/acnprod.htm, These are good guys. I've ridden with several times at the Reno Dust Devils DS ride. Last year they donated a couple hundred dollars of product to the Dust Devil's raffle, all proceeds going to the Blue Ribbon Coalition. You make a good product and support our sport and you get my business. Pat [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
