wolfman enduro tank bag

Post by new2klr » Fri May 28, 2004 1:45 pm

Anybody have one on there KLR? Wondering how they fit on the bike, how the angle is (since the KLR has a steeper tank than any of the bikes mentioned on the Wolfman site), how secure the mounting is, if it covers the gas cap, how much you can fit in the little bugger, that sort of thing. I like the idea of a smaller, less obtrusive tank bag to replace the fannypack that I'm always nervous stuff is falling out of if I open it while riding, so if anybody has any other ideas, I'm all ears. I'm not looking to pack a lot in there, just stuff I'll need for day trips (waterbottle, lunch, camera, sunglasses, cell phone, sweatshirt, house keys, that sort of thing). The larger Wolfman and Dual-Star tankbags just seem so huge.

I have a Wolfman Explorer tank bag as well as a Beta Rear bag w/ duffel. Beta is better on a Corbin seat. I like them all a lot. The Tank bag fits like a glove (as does the Beta) and I also have the oversize pockets. It holds a suprising amount of stuff. How much? I don't know, lots! You could pack all the stuff you mentioned and more without even unzipping the expansion gussets. And for the ultimate in long range riding comfort, pack it with soft items and it makes a great pillow as you have your toes propped over the passenger pegs and your head in the quiet, no wind zone behind the windshield. Just be careful you don't fall asleep! It does cover the gas cap but unclips easily to refuel. It's very secure and I don't worry about it at all. The one drawback I've found is that when it's stuffed full, it's a bit in the way when standing on the pegs in the dirt. I'm not afilliated in any way with Wolfman, just a happy customer. wolfman enduro tank bag

Post by Guest » Sat May 29, 2004 12:06 am

I recently purchased the Enduro Tank Bag & rode a 1,000 mile trip with it on my KLR. It works well, and is just small enough to straddle when standing & leaning forward during rougher terrain. It mounts nicely, but the straps seem thin, it looks to me like some tubular nylon protection would be wise where it rounds the edge of the tank. The location never interfered with the gas cap or fueling. Like you I use it to actually hold my small fanny pack, sun screen, shades, maps and a hat. The small map holder is nearly worthless when riding because you have to really look straight down. But it's a nice map holder and the overall construction is excellent. I purchased mine from http://www.sporttour.com/kawasaki/klr-650.htm and they have a very competitive price, great customer service too. In closing I do plan to get the larger Wolfman Explorer Tank Bag for longer KLR rides, use the smaller one on trips I know will be very dirt oriented & for my future DRZ400S. I've logged a 1,000 miles on my KLR with the Wolfman Enduro Tank Bag w/the following observations: It mounts solidly, however the straps are thin & chafes on the tank edges. It could use a little tubular nylon for protection. The bag holds my fanny pack, maps, sun screen, koozie, digital camera & hat without interferring w/the gas cap. The size is just small enough to not be in the way when standing. But the map case itself is all but unuseable while riding because it requires you to look straight down & is tiny, like the bag. But it's there for you when you need it, w/o fumbling around. Overall it's well constructed & will be my choice anytime there's a lot of dirt involved. I've no connection with Wolfman & got a good deal on it from Sporttour. Later, Bos in Chula Juana, CA.

Just installed my Wolfman Explorer tonight. I've had it since Christmas but hestiated to install it because it seemed so BIG! That and I really haven't needed it. But it's installed now, fits like a glove, and I hope to get it real dirty this weekend. I think it will take a little getting used to though. I considered the Enduro but was swayed by the overall popularity Explorer. Matt

I have one on my DRZ-400S's IMS 4 gallon tank. It's every bit as cool and well made as the Explorer. Stays put like it was glued on and holds lots of odds and ends. __Arden --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "takes2serious" wrote:

I just got one and used it for the first time this past weekend to ESR2. Worked out great. Mounts easily, holds a lot, exterior pockets for smaller items are nice, etc. Depending on your riding style, might suggest taking if off if doing hard off-road riding. It gets in the way of leaning in tight to the tank, but otherwise great bag. Mark SF

Hey Bogdan, You Coloradoians are not doing your job....... (thought you liked to keep all the water in your state) ;-) The Arkansas River USED to flow near the farm but now is a dry barren strip of land. Thanks John Martin Reservoir! The Farm in SW Kansas has had more rain in the last week than the annual amount we get here in Moab. So until it dries out there, I will be doing my best to scratch your KLR itches. Fred
