Post by Gary » Mon Jul 26, 2004 7:26 pm

I was just in yahoo chat and was not having any fun cause i am not a "regular" and they do not talk to you unless they know you.It danwed on me that what we need is a KLR 650 chat room where the KLR 650 brothers and sisters can meet and talk shop...swap ideas....trade tall tells...you get the idea....does anyone know how to make that happen?IF we can get the word out i think a KLR specific chat room would be fun.I know i personally kill time everynight in chat rooms after work.If i am not riding or wrenching of course. Any thoughts or ideas? Regards,Gary

Sounds like a great idea! I've never done chat, so I don't have a clue how to go about setting anything up, but I would certainly participate. Mark --------------------------------------- KLR650 Motorcycle Website: http://klr6500.tripod.com/

I'm a pretty active participant on http://www.beginnerbikes.com, they have a chat server setup and a web based interface for those not familiar with IRC chat. It's a friendly crew that is focused on beginning rider information and sticks to that theme pretty much but you can create other channels on the server if you want and I wouldn't imagine the server admin would mind a model-specific chat. Server info is server:squirrel.homelinux.org port:6667 The main channel is generally the only one running #beginnerbikes To join any other channel you want, just use the command like this /join # /join #klr650 The server just died a horrible death yesterday, but should be up soon again if not already. I'll keep an eye out when I'm popping by. Generally evenings are most active after 6pm EDT or so. The 'trick' with chat is to hurry up and wait. Best to just join when you get on the computer and keep an eye for activity as you go about your browsing.

I've set up a couple chat rooms/forums where you register, log in and chat away (regarding motorcycles and vintage XL's specifically - my mind's not in the gutter!) I could put one together for the KLR group/list IF there was enough feedback from all of you out there to warrant me doing it. Just a thought... Geoff www.oldrice.com www.aimoo.com/XLpage

Dave...I always enjoy your very well written posts. How about a summary of your big trip ? I'm sure you saw some interesting, and (I hope ), odd sights. And some photos ? Steve B.C.
