new member + mileage ?

Post by speedyjeeper » Wed Jun 16, 2004 11:06 am

Hi there, I am looking at a 90' Tengai 650 in great shape, very clean..he actually wants to make trade for my 97' YZ250WR + cash but I am concerned about the miles.. the bike shows 48,000 KMs or 29,000miles is this a lot for this bike? it ran mint and strong when I tested it. It wouldn't wheelie in 2nd which I thought was strange but this is not a light 2 stroke..what do yous think? thanks Troy

If you like the deal, take it. A Tengai is basically a more road oriented version of a KLR. My KLR (stock airbox and exhaust) won't wheelie in 2nd without something to bounce the front wheel off of, so with the extra plastic and lower suspension I would think a Tengai won't either. 29,000 is not a lot of mileage if it's been well kept. Don't' forget that a small bungie cord works well. Just put the meat of it between the grip and the throttle cable housing. Flick it out of the gap when you want free movement of the throttle grip. This, and the 'rocker provide a great combination. Mike Torst Las Vegas
