thanks Dave>May I please hear opinions about Russell versus Mayer seats for long distance riding. Also does anyone know if the original seat has to be destroyed to make the new one? I would prefer to keep the original along with a new seat. I have read the comments about Corbin and have personal experience so I am not interested.

re; seats
Hi , I have a russell seat on my concours and I have put over 100,000 miles
on it . the longest day being 2,750 in one sitting (43 hours ), other C.C.
trips 3,300 miles in 57 hours and many 1,500 ,1000 mile days.
The only reason I didn't buy one for the klr is I didn't want the wings
while off road, but if you don't plan on going off road to often go for it.
If you do buy one for the klr it will not be your butt that will want
you to call it quits for the day

I like it so much, that I will never buy another manufacturers seat, unless someone manages to come up with an even more superior product. That will be difficult to achieve, imho. The only downside to the Russell is the expense. For me though, the expense of the saddle was the best money I have ever spent on the KLR. This saddle was the difference between continuing to ride and having to leave my bike behind. If you are looking for full on comfort and support, then one of these two is currently the best commercially available seats in this class. If you have any specific questions about the Russell, drop me a line. I'll be happy to answer them if I can. > > Jim > Smithville-Texas > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > > > > List sponsored by Dual Sport News at www.dualsportnews.com. remove side panels w/ht panniers attached?
I met some folks up in Birmingham, AL this morning who have made some
modifications so they can get the seat off without removing the panniers.
Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to look at the modification, and I
didn't get any contact information from them.
But it can be done.
