pony express saddlebags?

Post by Dirk Beer » Wed Mar 31, 2004 3:39 pm

hello- has anyone tried the JC Whitney pony exress saddlebags? http://tinyurl.com/2b3op I looked in the archives, but couldn't find anything. If you did, which size did you get? I was thinking of trying to mount them under the seat for security, and trying to figure out which size would be work. They are cheap, but made from 1000-denier cordura & they come in black. There is no way to secure soft bags, short of taking them with you. I've found my (empty) soft chase-harpers opened and rummaged through several times I've left the bike unattended in a parking lot with them on. They would serve as a good starting point for a set of cheap soft bags. You'll most likely need to modify the yoke, as I don't think 10" will be enough for them to sit properly on the bike. Plus I'd look to see if anybody makes dry bags that'll fit inside these, I've had garbage bags leak on me too many times. You could easily make a stiffener out of plastic sheeting or plastic snow fence (plenty of that around here to "use"). Z DC A5X A12X
