more led applications for the klr650- get the watts for other i

Cop bait and racer ref's - not disparaging - Cop Bait means only an item that draws negative attention from law enforcement and racer means only that you ride fast. Happy New Year! Don't understand the comment sounds disparaging, 18 leds, disbursement angle? easily seen at a 45' angle. The 20 bulb 1157 wasn't visible at the same point in daylight. Lumens - Documentation and packaging doesn't state. Check out Dual-Star.com or Homebody-design.com for technical information And racer comment again sounds insulting, don't understand that. I was traveling on state hwy in western WA was stopped for 68 in a 60. I was polite and the trooper commented on the flash and brightness of the tail light. No ticket. 2nd occasion was in eastern WA, Yakima Co. a deputy followed me into a gas station, he rides as well, stated he was interested in the bike and we chatted, I got fuel and left. How many LED's? What was the disbursement angle? Oh, Lumens? And was it a simple red herring to stop a racer? Can I hear more from others, please? I purchased the Brake! LED Panel sold by Dual-Star and while more expensive than the bulb is an excellent product. In fact have been stopped by 2 police officers, one to chat about my speed, but the topic got on the led and the other just followed till I stopped, wanted to look at the bike. Both were impressed by the brightness and visibility of the light (set on strobe for 2 sec. and then solid), no tickets, only compliments. Also when I moved the plate onto to the fender I dropped the license plate light to save the wattage. No problems and when I was a full time LEO it a common reason to stop and chat with someone, think the led is lighting it enough to not be noticed it's missing. The watts I free-up, the greater capacity reserve the 17w charging system has for heated grips/gloves, vest , running light, etc. - I have yet to do the turn-signals ( but the idea of mounting 1157's for running light/ turn signal lights is great for safety) Just more projects - but "dusty' is all over the garage in sections, so why not? Death Valley Daze is over 3 weeks away. Thoughts ? Mike T [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] List sponsored by Dual Sport News at www.dualsportnews.com. "Cop Bait" as I understood it, is a conspicuous or simply visible violation of the law, usually the motor vehicle code. It gives an LEO a very covenient probably cause for pulling you over and looking at your paperwork. On rare occasions this is done by a LEO having a bad day and looking to improve it by making yours worse. In my experience, most of the time, when the police enforce the absolute letter of the law, there's either an "enforcement" operation in progress or a supervisor nearby, OR you're acting like an a$$hole and the "bait" is the easiest thing to pull you for. death valley days

Death Valley Days on Jan 23,24 and 25, 2004. I'll be camping, like the majority. Very informal, but the park service personnel are going to group us pretty close together. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dvdaze/ and http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24047 and http://www.dvdaze.org/ and http://www.bmwmoa.org/WhereAndWhen/WhereAndWhen.htm After looking at the above links you should have a GOOD idea of how the 3 days play out. Happy New Year! Mike T A16 Las Vegas Aka LOT Dogmen Aka dogman Aka z89101 -----Original Message----- From: cwsdist [mailto:cwsdist@...] Sent: Wednesday, December 31, 2003 4:32 PM To: z89101@... Subject: death valley days Mike, Saw your post on KLR site. I'd be interested in more info on the event. Is there a web site regarding the ride or is it fairly informal? If you have any info, send to cwsdist@... Randy

And rightly so. As I understood the statistics, drunks drivers killed more Americans during the Vietnam war than the VC did.

I'll have one beer, with a full meal. That's it. Sometimes it's really nice living in the city with a 24hr subway. -- Devon Brooklyn, NY A15-Z '01 KLR650 '81 SR500 cafe racer "The truth's not too popular these days....." Arnold Schwarzenneger, in The Running Man
