Aloha, I was wondering if anyone out there has had this problem. Sometimes when I am slowing and begin to downshift, my first plunge on the shifter gives me a dead gear. By this I mean, it's like I'm in neutral and can't get a gear unless I squeeze the clutch again like an old fashioned "double clutch" proceedure for a big truck. Any thoughts on this matter? While riding my bike yesterday my KLR got stuck in 3rd gear. I can't get it into anyother gear or neutral. One minute thing were okay. I downshifted while stopping at a red lite. When it turned green a started up shifting. Got to 3rd. And it got stuck. Had to ride home in one gear. Any ideas on what could have happened?

It could be that there is a fracture of the stock shifter, take a close look and see if that's the case. Very likely as it happens to LOTS of people.Reweld the old part to reuse as a spare, and call Fred Hink at Arrowhead Motorsports to get the OEM shifter replaced Fast. Before you go cutting off the lever ends, keep in mind the aluminum bar is very soft- the rally-pro's will "fit" just about anything with a bit of persuasion. With a bench vise and a big wrench (don't use a hammer to bend them), I was able to make them fit just fine. If you are expecting to ride tight woods, or lots of lane-splitting, trimming down the levers and the bar ends may get you 1" or 1.5" off each bar end Devon A15-Z
