how far can you ride the klr in a day?

Post by Mark Yocom » Tue Jul 08, 2003 9:20 am

I averaged ~400 miles/day on a recent 15 day trip. My longest day was 560 miles with my shortest being 290. I was mostly OK but monkey butt and fatigue were a big factor. My next trip won't be so aggressive every day. -NM Mark

Yeah, what he said! I did almost 500 miles yesterday. The seat was a non-issue (in fact I'm in the minority who thinks it's comfortable) but the windblast tires out your neck and shoulders. Paul

I guess the mileage limitations are more with the rider than the bike. The bike just seems to go just about wherever it's pointed, and for as long. I did a SS1000 yesterday. I went 1100 miles in 19 hours overall - Phoenix>Flagstaff>Albuquerque>Las Cruces>Tucson>Phoenix. Average moving speed was 68.4 mph. Strong winds for about 300 miles dropped my overall average fuel mileage to 47 mpg. Ron

Did you see me waving from my office in downtown ABQ? :) Sounds like a great ride. I was thinking of doing something like that this weekend, only heading north and staying at elevation to keep the heat down. -NM Mark
