stalling at idle...

Post by josephgreer » Sat Jun 28, 2003 8:39 pm

I'm a relatively new KLR rider, still learning the subtleties of keeping my ride running smooth. The bike starts fine, but when it warms up the idle is not steady and it eventually stalls. It seems if I adjust the ilde screw to increase idle speed (to 1300rpm) one day, the next day that setting has the bike idling well above 2000. Once I bet the bike moving, it seems OK at speed, but will stall again when I come to a stop. Any insight as to the problem? The carb has a DynoJet kit and the air filter is a clean and oiled K&N. Thanks for any advice you folks may have!

Could be some fine dirt in the carb. I had a problem exactly like that once upon a time on a bike with a rusty tank. The rust particles even managed to make their way through an in-line filter. Try draining the carb and see if it helps. -Lujo josephgreer wrote:

I think there is some rubber on the guide between the 2 cam sprockets

Tight exhaust valve. Check your clearances. First drain your float bowl to rule out water in the gas. --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "josephgreer" wrote:
