has any went up two teeth on the rear sprocket?

Post by Jeff Miller » Thu Mar 13, 2003 11:27 pm

I just completed putting on a 45 tooth rear sprocket. I thought it was actually easier than replacing the counter tooth sprocket. I got mine at Sprocket Specialists. It made a huge difference..I can idle with the clutch completely out with no stalling what so ever. And the torque.......

How is it on the street? How many RPMs does 70Mph bring? Is this with the 15t CSS? Karl A14 on 3/14/03 1:27 AM, Jeff Miller at JLMILLERRANCH@... wrote:

It is do able on the street. I have the 15t CSS with the 45 tooth rear and it turns about 5000 at 70mph. I don't do alot of highway long distance travel so it works out great. I found a KLR gear calculator program that is awesome. You input your sprocket teeth and rpm you want and it will tell you speed in each gear. If you have trouble finding it I can email it to you. Hi! Living in South Eastern Arizona, I can tell you that a couple of nice places to visit would be Bisbee and Tombstone. If you are interested in underground attractions, Kartchner Caverns is also something worth seeing. In fact you could make a loop going from Tucson to Tombstone (75 miles) where on a Saturday you could watch a recreation of the Gunfight at the OK Corral. Then in the afternoon you could log another 25 miles to the mining town of Bisbee. Besides a lot of interesting characters, Bisbee has an interesting wild west history to it. There is a motel there where the rooms are restored old motor homes/trailors. They even have working black and white tv's, with vcr's and a selection of olf black and white movies appropriate to the age of the trailors. Phelps Dodge, owner of the mines in Bisbee, runs an underground tour of the old copper mine which also produced gold, silver and lots of gem quality minerals. It gives you an idea of what it was like to be a miner when the only light you had to work by 100 years ago, was the candle you brought with you. If you are there on a Friday or Saturday, you can park the bikes at St. Elmo Bar, where they celebrated their 100th year of continuous operation this past year. While there you can listen to some good live blues or the occasional rock and roll band. When you are ready to head back to Tucson, you could take the other half of the loop back (100 miles) and stop at Kartchner Caverns along the way. Peter
