I got a pair of wire guards from Checker for about $7.00, but didn't
like the quality. Aerostich sells a self-adhesive clear plastic, about
1/8" thick, 3M product probably, in 1 sq.ft. sheets. You cut to fit;
one sheet will do 4 rectangular headlights. Seems to work nicely,
although without the pose value, in fact it's completely unobtrusive.
My buddy slammed his LC4, cracked the lens, but the plastic still
holds it all together, and seems to keep out moisture.

bigcee.com makes a steel bar/mesh guard that will take down small trees.
Blood and hair would probably be easier to rinse off the Aerostich guard
though.
