I plan to use this strategy at the 2003 CMC Canyonlands Campground tire changing time trials and don't want to have to pay for a new tube.... Stu

doohickey alert!!

Post by georgee2_1 » Thu Jun 13, 2002 2:56 am

Hey All, A couple of listers (both on and off list) wondered why I didn't approach my dealer about having the spring replaced under warranty. Other than the fact that I was pressed for time and I wanted to replace my stock doohickey with Jake's aftermarket part, I would refer you to our "Dealer Competence Thread" from a few weeks ago for the complete answer. Actually my dealer is a really nice guy and I think he means well but I have little or no faith in his wrenching abilities, especially as they apply to my bike! I am going to make a write-up of this incident and send it to him (with the broken spring) and Kawasaki mostly to go on record that the spring was broke and there is still the small broken off end floating around in my engine, although hopefully the magnetic drain plug that Fred from Arrowhead is sending me (with a Wolfman Tank Bank, hey, I had him on the phone and I couldn't resist it) will catch it. I'll probably end up with a free spring and a letter telling me that if I would have taken it to a dealer for the 500 mile check-over that this would have never happened and that furthermore they will never be responsible for another thing that goes wrong with my bike. You know, the same old dealer crap they all put out.... Anyhow, if anyone see's a KLR heading through Colorado this weekend and next week, riding with an assortment of mostly Harley's and a Beemer or two, that'll be me heading to Telluride to catch some great music and ride every mountain pass and dirt road within reach. And if you can't spot the KLR you'll be able to see me cause I'll be the rider with the big shit-eatin' grin cause I'll be having more fun than the Harley riders are capable of. Talk to you when I get home from vacation!! George
