Ha! I used to never get passed in traffic too. My driving motto (when I was younger, stupider and more daring) was: Pass everyone you see, and don't let anyone pass you. But this didn't mean driving like an a**hole, or blocking people, or taking huge risks. It simply meant keeping up a healthy speed, and slowly reeling in every car and bike on the highway. Just go slightly faster then everyone else. If a crazy bastard came along going much faster then me, well, I'd let him go of course. Helped me avoid tickets. I usually got where I needed to go pretty quickly, and surprisingly didn't get that many speeding tickets. Now I ride pretty mellowly, except on the rare occaision when I borrow my buddies Gixxer 1000, or Hayabusa, or whatever the latest hardware that he has. I defy anyone to resist twisting the throttle on an open stretch of highway while on one of those bikes. Its fun! Ed Slowville, WA

I doubt it. My Dad had me sell his Silver Wing 11 years ago or so, when he quit riding at age 74. Now he sticks to his Crown Vic.

I understand Hogs are fairly popular in Japan (if they can afford them). When was in Paris on a river cruise a guy from Finland quite proudly told me he had a Harley. I was in Costa Rica recently and the bike of choice because of bad roads were dual sport type. I did see a few clad in leather doo ragged cruiser types probably Gringos or maybe Europeans. I was in Greece once and only saw one Harley (multitude dual sport bikes for similar reason above) and when he came down the street, all heads turned followed by a bus with a Rocky movie poster on the back. Funniest thing I saw was an old boxer beemer with a sportster tank and ape hangers in a chopper configuration. I guess the point is the old Marlon Brando Wild One bad boy image appeals to quite a few folks (not me) and Harley has wisely capitalized on it especially in the years they had neither the money or expertise to keep up with the Japanese, the Italians, and the Germans. They have the money now and will be interesting to see if they broaden their horizons. I think that is what the V -Rod is all about. They realize a lot of their market is aging yuppies with bucks and want to be bad. A lot of the younger dudes are more into Snow boards, Skate boards, Supercross and Sport Bikes which most bike people know are the real bad ass sports (not golf Tigre Woods). Harley knows this too. Maybe when all these groups grow up they will realize the perfect bikes are dual sports and then maybe we will all get a KLR that has 70 horse, great brakes, great suspension, 250 lbs. and a paint job that will make the chics wanna ride on the bike (instead of some industrial green). Strange things going on around here (Dallas). Harley guys are starting to wave and sport bikers aren't (I guess they are going so fast they are too scared to). Criswell zensurweb admin wrote:

Everything is there except: 1) cylinder head/valve assembly 2) tool pouch that fits on the rear fender I really need to find #1 off this list if I'm going to get this bike going. I resented an ad in one of the recent motorcycle mags. Several Harleys are riding in the street - somewhat parade style - and there is a small, sad-faced boy on the sidewalk. The caption reads "History books don't wave back". There are enough individual a- holes on bikes without a company pushing that it is part of "the image". Ride safe Jim
