Hey all, just wanted to give you guys an update since Ive moved to turkey in
Feb.
The KLR and KZ are in storage in Colorado, and i miss them greatly.
Especially on the roads here, the KLR would be fun, although the driving
habits here do not mix well with motorcycle riding.
Its not uncommon to see a family of 4 or 5 on a small motorcycle or Moped.
Riding down the street like nothin, next to the goats, weaving in between,
around and
through traffic.
They make 2 lanes into 4, dont know what turnsignals are, and ride your ass
and think nothin of it. Turning left from the right lane? Very common.
I cant even describe it, it is just insane.
This place is something else, but there is some good shopping, and the
Turkish Hospitality is awesome.
I just bought a 1957 BMW R26 Single Cyl. 250cc, and am in the process of
getting it restored, painted white.
It's in excellent shape, all original, just needs cosmetics and a good
engine checkup. 1 previous owner.
Will post a few pics soon.
I can get custom made parts for absolutely anything made here, for cheap,
and good quality.
I plan on having a skidplate and radiator guard made for my KLR for about
$20 for both. Add a fork brace for another $20.
Labor is extremely cheap here, and the turks are very handy.
Too bad i dont have the bike here, or my '76 KZ. Would have liked to have
it stripped down and gone over a bit.
Anyway, we are settling in good here. Finally got the Exploder last friday,
and our furniture should be arriving next week.
It's HOT here already- been 80s-90s lately.
I still read these posts quite often, i have been reading other groups since
i have arrived, some BMW, and Digital Video, and MAC groups, so havent had
much time,
the KLR list is by far, the most amusing.
Hopefully i'll have a web site up soon and post some sightseeing pics from
here. Planning a trip to Cyprus this year, and Egypt next year.
Gorusurez, (see you) Take care.
