cam chain questions again...(newbie)
As I recieved no responses, I'll assume this got lost
in the flame war. So here it is again...thanks for
your patience
Hi all-
I'm a proud new owner of a 1985 KL600 and my
girlfriend is a proud
new owner of a '95 KLR650 (Thanks Twist!) I'm in the
process of doing
a service on these bikes, and I keep reading posts
about adjusters
breaking, and other oddments about adjusting these
important
components. So I lay myself at the mercy of the list
and ask:
1. What should a newbie know that the Kawi manual
neglects to mention?
2. Is there a good online source of directions for
adjustment, as
there are with valves, and chain slack.
3. Does anyone know if a '85 KL600 rear shock is
rechargable? Mine is
all springy....Thanks in advance!
-Scott (who's happy to finally have a reason to post a
technical
question)

Adjusting what? Most things on the bike are quite simple.> 2. Is there a good online source of directions for > adjustment, as > there are with valves, and chain slack.
Mine has some sort of valve on it, so I guess it is possible, but I would suggest at least a change of damper fluid at the same time as a gas recharge. By now the seals would be somewhat used, so don't expect miracles. Mister_T Melbourne Australia> 3. Does anyone know if a '85 KL600 rear shock is > rechargable?
front fork boots
Well last Monday afternoon I called Fred Hink at Arrowhead Motorsports and ordered a few things for my new A16. Fred was very helpful and I received the new fork springs, brake lines, superbrace and bash plate Wednesday afternoon. Great service and what a difference these additions make to the KLR!
My question is, does anyone have an idea for securing the lower end of the fork boots to the superbrace. It appears that the brace is recessed to accept the boots, however the boots don't stay put while riding. Thanks in advance.
