I have only heard neagative comments about the old style Corbin seat with the dip in the front. Has anyone had a positive experience with this seat? I need more comfort than the stock seat provides for long distance touring but cannot afford to add seat height, as my lowering links have barely made the bike manageable for my 30" inseam.

As far as I know, the complaint was that the dip forced the rider to sit more forward than some people might want. Since Corbin can easily custom build a saddle, I would guess that you can have the dip either "elongated," or carved further back... Wise men still seek Him... I have one on my Tengai. It took awhile to get used to, but I do like it for long trips and it will lower your seating a bit. My legs are a little more scrunched on the pegs though, but it's not uncomfortable. The dip is only a problem if your bike's front end is low. I raised the triple clamp about a half inch from where I had it (the forks are now 1/8" recessed in the top clamp). Mark B2 A2 A3

I know a guy here in town that has the old style and absolutely loves it. As far as the 2 styles are concerned, the original one is designed with a dish, side-to-side, to aid in weight dispursement. The "flat" seat does not have this, and I would think that long trips would be more comfortable with the original style Corbin. I also believe that Corbin knows what they are doing, and designed their seat that way for a reason. They *are* the experts. As for the "sliding-forward" that supposedly happens when you hit the brakes, the guy I know has never had that problem. Sure, the guys that bought the flat seats probably love them, but how many of them had the dished seat first to compare? I'd be curious to hear from someone that has had both styles of seat on their bike. Not for just a short ride, but for a while. I've only heard of 4 or so guys on this list getting the "flat" style, I'm sure there are a TON of "regular-Corbins" on this list already. If I get one, it'll be the original style. I had a Corbin seat on my old BMW and loved it. I trust in their design. Ryan

I have one with the dip on my xr400, not the klr (that one is a travelcade- not any better than stock). I don't find the dip prohibitive in any way. I kinda like it. When riding hard offroad, I like the ability to get up close to the tank and down a little lower in tight turns. On long straights, it is more comfortable to scoot back a little onto the raised, larger flat part.

List, I have had both the dipped verion which is currently on my KLR650 and the flat version previously on a DR650. Both are much more comfortable then the stock units. The flat version, in my opinion, is actually more comfortable( just a little). On the KLR, with highway pegs allowing me to shift my weight slighlty, the dipped version is good for 2,000 mile rides covering several days no problem. On my DR650, with the flat version and no highway pegs I was actually more comfortable for the same ride. The advantage is that I too have a short inseam (30") and the dipped version of the seat on the KLR allows my feet more contact with the ground when stopped. Yes, in January. I guess the first few days will be "summarized". No big deal cuz those stages will be in France and Spain.
