Wasn't too many years ago that NASA, relying on weathermen in Houston, almost lost a rocket or shuttle or two in a thunderstorm as it left the Cape. They finally decided to appoint a Kennedy Space Center weatherman to look out the window to see if the weather was, in fact, flyable before launching. I got my A15 tagged yesterday and the forecast for today (3/20)is for 61 degrees, so off I went to work (25 miles) this morning with my new beloved between my legs! Since I'm still in the break-in period, I decided to take the two- lane and keep it around 60mph, which worked great with the tach hovering just under 4k RPM. Although I've heard mention on this list about vibration, and the mirrors "fuzzed" a bit, it was hardly noticeable in my hands. Incredible...the weight on this bike is really low, because while in the saddle, it feels like a 125cc...very light to the touch! With the temp at a cool 31 this morning, my knees were quickly wanting a fairing, but "knee-hugging" the tank helped a bit. Even though I was wearing gloves, I was very thankful for the handguards. I'm wearing a Bieffe full face Predator helmet which makes wind noise virtually non-existant with the face shield fully closed, and by ducking slightly under the stock windshield...I could feel the front my neck again! The KLR's gearbox shifts soundly and will only get better as I get more used to it. I did have to raise the shift lever slightly since I'm wearing O'Neil motocross style boots, but never once did I miss a shift or inadvertantly find neutral. A very enjoyable journey for me this morning... So, what can I say...I love this thing! Joe...just now warming up!
