41/16 did it for me
I made the switch and have finished my test ride and have to say
that this is way all road going KLR's should be. 65 MPH at about
3700 RPM's will work from here on out. Really doesn't kill the take
off too bad either(you just pull those wheelies at a higher speed).

acerbis flag handguards
Anybody have any experience with the new Acerbis "Flag" hand guards? The web
site says they will mount to "any bike, any color" but THEN gives an
application guide! Needless to say, KLR is NOT a choice. They come in a "YZ
blue" that will with my army green as well as anything, and the price is
right.

I have a friend with a 97' who would like to do this mod but isn't having much luck finding the replacement sprockets. Local dealers are no help and even Dennis Kirk doesn't list the 16t in thier catalog. Any info out there on availablity? Stephen Easter, where did you get yours? Any tips appreciated, Steve Pye>I made the switch and have finished my test ride and have to say >that this is way all road going KLR's should be. 65 MPH at about >3700 RPM's will work from here on out. you can get 16t sprockets from fred hink at arrowhead. that's where i got
mine. as for rear sprockets, good luck. you might try sidewinder. here is
their reply to my earlier inquiry about a non-stock sprocket. i never bought
one (bought a klx300 instead), but they might be able to help for rear
gears.
