The Pegaso I was loaned was stock as well with exception of a centerstand & adjustable rear shock (yea, adjustable rear shock is an option...bizarre). I like my KLR Alot. Easy to maintain & less expensive to buy & maintain than the Pegaso. The Mity KLR is a much better value for the buck. The KLR makes you Feel like you're riding. I don't ride mx anymore & the KLR helps fill that void some, with its gruff nature & off roadability. The Pegaso feels like it runs on electricity. Very smooth shifting, not much vibration, very un-thumper like. Easy to get speeding tickets on. KLR smokes Pegaso in 0-60, Pegaso (Great brakes) smokes KLR in 60-0. Gah....writers block....ok, over it. Did a 50 mile, road mostly, two up ride this morning on the KLR. Upon returning home, my narrow butt was sore. This was the same ride that we took last Sunday on the Pegaso, minus the sore butt & ready to go for more then. Riding solo, it's easy to move around on the KLR's seat to fight fatigue. The Pegaso's real comfortable, handles/corners very well. Didn't take the loaner off road, yet read an informative article that basically stated that it handles surprisingly well when leaving the pavement. Ahh, the question....If I'd no bike now & could choose one for free, I'd look for a used 400cc/off road four stroke (or any CR250) for extreme use on the weekends in this sand pit I reside in, by the name of "Florida".......& grab the Pegaso as the freebee. You didn't say that I could only have one bike. :) Yea, I've still got a crush on the Pegaso. Have great weekend all! Scott A14 Sorrento

Given the fact that the battery is three years old, replace the battery and see what that does. At that age its a worthwhile PM item anyway. -Tom '96 KLR 650

[dsn_klr650] dead klr battery today

Thanks, Amigos.  Fred's sending me a new Yuasa on Monday.  I'll be travelling mo beta going up to Idaho in early August, with a new batt.  I was wondering how long the original was going to last; now I know.

Bill, Chances are you battery is a goner, but your bike is exhibiting the symptoms of a poor ground connection, most likely at the battery. Jim Ivery 97 XR400 81 KZ750E
