Ron: Park on the grass. That way, the only dangers are lawnmowers and dogs
lifting their legs! Tom
<< At lunch today my KLR got backed into and knocked over for the second
time. First time, the driver looked me up and found me and PAID a rather
exorbitant estimate from the dealer which I used to outfit the KLR with
the latest goodies from Fred in Hinkville. The latest jerk drove off
leaving me with a broken windshield and a loose acerbis hand guard.
Guess I'll have to order the taller windshield from Fred like I have
planned. I'm really getting tired of getting nailed in the parking lot.
Suggestions?

Parking behind the "first" driver appears to be more lucrative. I'll assume you want to keep some good Karma for yourself, so.....I often park in safety zones in parking lots, the painted off sections where its too small for a car to park at the end of the row. I have also been known to jump up onto islands to park, and behind any type of barrier I can find. I park in any spot I can find other than next to handicap spots and in car spots. Never park in car spots. Nobody has ever objected yet, and I've done it right in front of cops. A lot of these spots can be find right next to the front door of the store too. If this doesn't work, then maybe you could carry some spike strips or caltrops and place these strategically around your bike when you park to ensure that after they knock down your bike, they will have to change a tire or two before they flee the scene. Good luck! JeffI'm really getting tired of getting nailed in the parking lot. Suggestions?

I just had a thought, have you tried riding with a passenger to see what their perspective is on the knocking sound?
Rob
No offense taken. But let me assure all of you that I have gone over and over all things chain and sprocket related. I have gotten a ruler out and set the slack to exactly 2.2 inches. I also made it tighter just to see if that affected anything, which it did not. -----Original Message----- From: Peter Dahlheimer, MD [mailto:Peter_Dahlheimer@...] Sent: Thursday, July 06, 2000 6:03 AM To: KLR650 List Subject: RE: [DSN_klr650] Help? Knocking sound. no offense intended, but have you checked to be sure your chain isn't too tight? a little loose is better than a little tight (chains, folks). _pete ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Who invented Gatorade -- and what part did it play in winning the1967 Orange Bowl?
