Congrats! Looks like you struck a fair deal.

Used KLRs rarely do. I carry the following in a tool wrap: small 8,10,12,13,14,15,17,19mm open-end wrenches 7" Vise-Grips 5-in-1 screwdriver genuine Knipex 8"pliers spark plug wrench tiny 1/4" drive ratchet with 6" extension, 8, 10, 12mm sockets two 6" tire levers jack-knife style allen wrench assortment spoke wrench magnet These are the only tools I use (except for torque wrench in the garage) when working on my KLRs, so I know what I have and what I need if I have to do work on the road/trail. Also, this kit only is for use with the KLRs and I never borrow a tool from it to work on a car or lawnmower, etc. I also wear a Leatherman type tool on my belt when I ride.

Another surprise. You don't need it, but you will want the Kawasaki factory service manuals( KLR600 base manual plus 650 supplement). Shop around for the best price; they sometimes show up on ebay really cheap. I got the base manual for $10.00 at a local shop.

Now that I've had a day or so to recover from the Utah Get-Together, I thought I'd share my thoughts on the event. First, thanks go to all those that attended. It would be pretty boring if it were just Fred, Bob Carreras and I. Special thanks go to Fred for the support he provides in getting the logistics of the event in order. Also thanks to Bob Carreras for being trail boss and getting everyone to pitch in and help get the rides going. Kurt Simpson deserves thanks also for the use of his PA system which made the event much more pleasant. Final tally had 123 bikes and 129 participants. We had riders from Canada and Mexico and as far away as Miami, FL. KLR650's still ruled the roost, but Honda, Suzuki, Husaberg, KTM, Moto Guzzi, BMW, Yamaha were also present. Memorable Momments (in no particular order): Meeting the famous Redondo Ron Seeing Kurt Simpson at Karaoke night.... you had to be there. Taking a long nap in the tall, cool grass at Warren lake. Discovering how well a KLR can go through sand when equipped with the right tires. Listening to the beautiful music of Beth Cook-Verne as it softly echoed through the twighlight in Old City Park. Meeting all of the new folks and catching up with the veteran rally goers. Watching Mariola and Bogdan work on a bike together =:-o Having a Moab Diner Breakfast Burrito and coffee every morning with the early birds. Watching Bob Carreras drool as he introduced Ranger Alyssa. More to come....... Gino
