Well, after a long weekend up here in Canada, I sure had an exciting ride into work this morning! This past weekend, I put about 300km on my A9 riding the forest service roads near Squamish, BC. Even though it rained, the experience was fantastic!
Dreading coming back to work today, I thought I'd make it a little more enticing for me to get out of bed in the morning, and decided to ride to work. Then, it happened. Nothing like a police radar check to wake you up! The police up here set up a system where your speed is measured as you come around a corner, and then displayed on a LED screen as you drive by. They have no intention of pulling you over; they just try to scare you. Anyway, my speedo was reading about 59km/h when I was clocked doing 52km/h. Seems to me Kawasaki set our speedos a little high so that we wouldn't get ourselves into situations we couldn't control (not that any listers would do that!). Less accidents=good bike?
Next on the list of scary experiences: I was cruising on the highway, and realized that the shift lever was getting a little 'soft' under my foot. Then, I couldn't shift at all! After a quick stop on the side of the road, I discovered my shift lever was almost broken through, with a big crack running right in front of the connecting clamp. For an A9 with 20,000 km on it, is this a common breakage? How much does a replacement usually go for?
Thanks for your help!
