On the subject of the heat guard...for those whose heat guard screws can
still be removed, I recommend dressing the screws with ant-sieze com-
pound. The screws tend to weld themselves to the header pipe.

It has occured to me that if something falls off and the bike is still
going, then this something shouldn't be on the bike in the first place.
After a while, the KLR should painlessly reach the enviable 250 lbs....
(Just kidding. Without the heat guard, the heat reaching the leg is quite
fantastic.)
