I live in the UK and own a 98 KLR 650c and ride in all weathers, commuting etc, lane splitting for fun! Did I read somewhere that this is illegal in some states? My impression from this side of the pond is that "way of life" or "lifestyle" bikers in the US are equated with chaps, BIG beards, attitudes (or looking like you have one) and low loud Vtwins, and least thats what our totally obsessed with sports bike mainstream bike press would have us think...Trail bikes are usually dismissed, if they can be bothered to test them. Bikes as a way of life in the UK generally seems to be about deciding whether or not a Ducati 996 is fast enough, our whether or not an R1 would be better for the overcrowded roads on our little island...or how fast you can wear out knee sliders! I don't care what I ride, as long as I can enjoy it. Now if someone were to give me a Ducati..... Van Tran Nottingham England
