tubular

Post by Ray McCrary » Mon May 15, 2000 5:28 pm

Hi guys,
Well, back to the tube hunt. I need 5 tubes for the TB; they are the ones
with a .50" diameter (prefer metal) stem that is off set like a TC. So far
I have received another set of the metal stemmed center type (like the PA,
PB,TA uses), and so they are for sale for 11 bucks each plus shipping. I
take a hit on the shipping, but I would have to going both ways if I ship
them back.
One outfit sent me farm implement tubes with a rubber stem that was .650 in
diameter. You couldn't drive it through the wheel hole with a hammer!!
Where can I get the proper tubes????
And write if you need any TA or older type 19" tubes.......
Best Regards,

Ray,
In the past, Coker Tire has had offset metal stems in 4.50x19, but when I
tried last November, they could not supply them. Even in rubber stem type,
the offset location caused them problems, then they sent me 4.00x19s, and I
finally gave up in disgust and went elsewhere. The situation may have
changed by now, so it's worth checking with them.
BTW, I had nothing but trouble out of metal stems in the past- several
stems pulled out of the tubes for unknown reasons. Sloghtly oversize rubber
stems are no problem--a few minutes with a wood rasp, and they fit the holes
just fine.
After much callin around, I finally found a set of correct size, offset
stem (rubber) tubes from the following:
Wallace W. Wade Specialty Tires
530 Regal Road
Dallas, Texas 75356
1 (800) 666-8973
They were pleasant to deal with, the price was reasonable, the tubes were
the right ones, and delivery was rapid. What more can I say??? Wade stocks
a bunch of rather unusual tires and tubes, so be sure to ask for a catalog; it
's interresting reading.
In case you're wondering, I've been using the stick-on balance weights
for years with noo problems. Mounted on the inside of the wheel, they are
almost invisible, unless you are really looking for them.
Hope this helps,Carl Fritz

Alright, I am tired of messing around with tubes and leaking valve stems.
Does someone have a part number and company for a tube that fits the TC rim
worth a damn?

Joe,
I got a nice tube from Skip Kelsey at shadetree motors. Good quality, no
problems.
