Knock-off status, et al

Dear all,

I am pleased to report a very successful TC-weekend.

I hope he won't mind me reporting, but I was fortunate to receive a
visit from Mike Card to meet TC6132.

Overall clad, we spend some time going over and under the car, in my
garage on 4 axle stands. He pointed out many details of originality
and otherwise and made an overall assessment. After an hour or so we
had reached a point of courage - to starter or not to start!

Removing plugs for check/cleaning, we cranked it over to check for
oil pressure. After some seconds it popped off the mark and leveled
off at 28psi.

Replacing plugs and working on the ignition, cranking it over
resulted in some hopeful noises, followed by more stirrings of life.
After some moments it was clear the engine was increasingly willing
and began running on its own (of sorts). Mike was a wizard on the
carbs and had the engine running really quite well within minutes.

Off the stands and into first gear we slowly edged 6132 out of the
garage and into the light. Mike jumped in, and we took a careful
drive for a few hundred yards, checking the gears (up to third and
reverse). Oil pressure above 55psi. After returning to the stable,
he set to the list of priorities for me to work on.

On Sunday I acquired a proper knock-off hammer and set to the nuts.
I followed the advise of the list and applied copious squirts of
penetrating oil. After some time I applied aim and energy and they
began moving. After just 10 minutes all were removed along with the
wheels. The spline shafts were fortunately still well greased.

I have also taken delivery of new tyres, tubes and liners.

So I think we are on the way.

Thanks again for the advice. A very special thanks to Mike for
giving of so much time and help.

Regards,

DAI
