I am reluctantly selling TC 0627, XPAG 1209. We're going to be leaving our ranch (and huge garage) in Colorado and moving to Florida in a year or two. I've just turned 73, and I'll never get to its restoration, so I'll keep just my '49 EXU.

I bought this car on a business trip to England in 1975 and had it shipped over (photo in the Gallery). It had been bought new in May of 1946 by an RAF pilot, and then had some amateurish body puttying (badly done) along the way. It was up on blocks in the proverbial barn when I found it in Uxbridge, with what I believe to be only 60,000 original miles on it. Some of the body hardware is rusted and/or missing, it has original (useless) leather, fascia, roof bows, etc. Tires are also shot as is other rubber trim. However, it is far from a basket case, as the engine and drive train is excellent, and the tub is usable if redone properly. The paperwork (repair receipts, etc. that came with it) indicated that it had been pretty well serviced by its owner. After it was delivered to me in Chicago (where I had my business), I test drove it about twenty miles after replacing the clutch plate, resetting the carbs, installing a (domestic) temporary muffler and removing the speedo and tach for safekeeping until they are properly cleaned and lubricated. It ran beautifully then, but it's been in covered storage ever since.

Not really knowing what it's worth but wanting to keep it in the "list", I'm going to run a mini-auction for a couple of weeks, with a starting price of $7,500. If anyone is interested, contact me off list for photos or to make an offer or ask questions. Anyone within driving distance of Ridgway, Colorado (southwestern part of the state) is certainly welcome to look.

Best to all,

Austin

I'd like to point out Austin, if you are not already aware, that the GoF West
will take place in Durango between June 24 and 28 - a very good spot to find
a loving new owner.

TC for sale

Post by FDShade@aol.com » Wed Oct 29, 2003 10:19 am

OOops - my recent "Update" mentioned that:

"Rick Legoza is selling his car. Details will soon be posted on the
CLASSIFED page of our website. In the meantime, if you are interested you can
contact Rick at -> rlegoza@earthlink.net

BUT I mistakenly thought he was a T-ABC'er. SO, his ad will not appear on
our CLASSIFIED page.

HERE is the ad:

I bought this MG-TC (VIN TC 2285) in 1988 from an old friend in New Mexico.
It was garaged for quite a long time in the dry New Mexico weather.
Therefore, the steel and wood parts are in excellent condition.
The engine (number: C 57875) has approximate 800 miles on it since its
last rebuilding. The car is in need of some electrical work. In fact, I was
going to swap out the wiring harness, but simply didn t have the time.
Interior is in good condition as well. Someone drilled a whole in the dash to
install a water temperature gauge (I know, don t tell me), but other that that, the
gauges, switches and leather seem to be in fine shape.
My wife and I are going to move and we can t take this car with us (no
garage at the new house). So, while I hate to part with her (the car, that
is), I must put it up for sale. I m looking for $16,000 obo.
If you are interested, please call me at 949-497-9087. I'll also send
photos if you send me an email (rlegoza@earthlink.net">rlegoza@earthlink.net)

TC For Sale

Post by bharkins » Fri May 28, 2004 10:06 am

I have posted my red 48 TC on eBay:

I know you all have your cars, but you may know a friend that is interested
in a nice TC. Of course, it doesn't hurt to have a second one as a spare!

Bill,

Beautiful car...

Two questions just so I don't die of curiousity...1) what kind of fan are you using (looks like it's plastic) and 2) what is the chrome piece sticking up that is shown in the carburetor view of the engine?

Thanks,

It appears to be an overflow tank for the radiator. It sates in the
accesory list that it has one.

Gene while I do not know what fan is on that TC I have fitted a MGB Fan to
my TD which is plastic and very yellow, bolt pattern is same but centering hole
is a little bigger so we made a reducer and all works fine.
