Hi All:
I helped rebuild a TC in 1963 and ever since then knew that someday I would
have one of my own. Being in the Army 22 yrs limited me but I found what I
was looking for 2 years ago and at the age of 53 feel like I'm 20 again!
Worth the wait!

Did nt get one before 1994. Now I am 72. If you wait long enough you will
get what you want.

CLIVE...Who wants to look at stamps on a cold winter weekend when you
can get under your TC on the cement floor and play with all the greasy
parts, not to mention all the friends who drop by to drink your beer and
give advise!
All this talk about the youngest owner how about the oldest..... Any one
want to start the bidding?
For what its worth I was driving a TD in 1952 and was in the air
force...single of course!

PS it's nice to see that the contributors old and not so old, not only
give sound advise but also have a sense of humour

[mg-tabc] Listers ages

Post by Andreas Pichler » Fri Apr 28, 2000 4:53 am

Awini.

I started my "MG career" in 1988 with age of 24 (before I "only" could
afford classic motorcycles - some NSU OSL from 1948, BMW R50 from 1960 ,
R50S from 1961, R25 with sidecar from 1953, R27 from 1960 - which still
lives in our formal living room...)
Give my first fees after university away for a primsore yellow MGBGT.
Next was a MGC GT (needs nearly 5 liters oil every 600 miles...) in
1990. Both cars "died" in traffic accidents...(not my fault, but it
doesnt make the cars alive...)
Then my clipper blue TD, bought in 1991; then I married my wife Dagmar
(she owns a MGBGTV8 - Geoff, it works somehow!). Then an MGBGT from 1971
- the car was sold in 1999.
Our collection was completed in 1998 with an iris blue MGA 1600 (our
daily driver).

Regards,

Andreas

Andreas, My wife has a Austin Healey Sprite but we still talk to each
other. However, if it had been a Triumph I don't think we would still be
married!

Dear list members,
Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement's to my Daughter
Katrina and her 52 RH TD.

At the young age of 17, my first car was a MGA coupe, but the seed of
desire for a TC was planted at the parts store (Inskip on Long Island,
NY) back then. There on a Saturday morning you could view the numerous
"T" series cars parked outside, the only draw back at the time for me
was that the cars appeared to be more for the middle aged guys. Where as
the MGA's, Austin Healey's and TR3's and 4"s were the real "sporty" ones
for me and my generation. WELL the world turns so to speak and nothing
much changes, and here I am now in my mid 50's just about to finish a
complete rebuild of my first TC. Sounds like I've lost out on a lot of
enjoyment in life but we'll try and get her TD on the road as "Safety
Fast" as possible.
Kind Regards to All,
Taris Charysyn

Listers ages

Well, I got MY first MG back in the year 357 B.C., (Before Cecil)
(Kimber).
Of course, I hadn't been born yet and, in fact, MGs didn't exist yet
but, as matter cannot be created or lost, the already existing atoms
which were pre-determined to later combine and become myself and my MG
were already cosmically aware of that future certainty and were joyously
celebrating in unison.
Okay! Can we please stop overloading my email file with show and tell
stories? I (almost, but not quite) wish we could get back to Nissan
steering boxes.
Every time I open my email file lately, I feel like a Priest hearing
confessionals.

Very interesting to read all your profiles and it's nice to see such a wide
spectrum.

I think I was an MG fanatic from birth so when I got to college, the most
affordable look-alike was a '36 Morris 8 tourer for 90 pounds in 1960,
followed by a TA for 150 pounds in '61 and, because it wasn't fast enough
for the competitions I had started entering, TC 8892 (UMG 15), was purchased
in '62 for 160 pounds when I was 20. We had a successful racing stint
through the balance of the '60s, but put it on hold when we emigrated to
Canada ('70)and then to the USA ('78). It's carried us over the Alps,
Pyrenees, Apalachians and the Rockies so it loves long journeys and hill
climbs and this year we'll take it round the Great Lakes (or some of them).
It's now predominantly a racing car again amongst a modest stable of the PA,
two more TC's and a couple of B's.

My wife Rachel bought her '47 TC in 1965 and I won't disclose how old she
was at the time! It was the common theme of our first meeting and she still
has it, but it's awaiting me to finish the restoration, which it really
needed when first acquired. However the TC's were our only form of
transport for many years.

Cheers,
Peter

ps. Someone mentioned the TC Motoring Guild. I sent 8892's details to
California back in '62. I wonder if I am still on the list?
