Dear Mr. Badger:
As requested, I dug my original top material out from storage in the attic
and painstakingly measured the individual stitching over several yards of
material, both exterior & interior surfaces (to make sure that I could give
you a good average) and took into compensation sun-shrinkage over the last 54
years in the western hemisphere and then subtracted 5 years for storage in
the attic. I then downloaded several original photos and carried them in my
TC to the local printing company and had thee photos magnified to actual
size. From that, I was able to measure the exterior stitching and verify
that my previous calculations were indeed correct. From those findings, I
was further able to compile all the available information into factual
measurements. Then, I drove my TC back home to report these fascinating
findings to you, but along the way, I realized (as I adjusted the slow
running control) according to your recent reasoning. . . .I drive my TC
whenever I want and my top stitching spacing doesn't have a thing to do with
the personal enjoyment I receive from the car. Therefore, I concluded that
you really would not be interested in knowing the precise number of stitches
per inch!
Happy TC'ing

Re: [mg-tabc] top stitching
......more scientifically inclined would know how to take an original works
photograph and enlarge it to the point where an accurate count could be
made. Does anyone have any ideas?

I have some Ideas:
As an early member of this list, I would like to thank all of you that have
contributed to my education and restoration of my TC. This forum has been a
wonderful source of information and opportunity to "meet" all of you. I
started my restoration and was half way through before this forum came to
life. I would say the second half of the restoration was much better thought
out because of exposure to all you guys. A few of you have said that any
information passed on this forum is already available elsewhere and all you
need do is look. Probably true. We have all seen the same thread repeated
again and again. Find one teacher that doesn't have to repeat things a few
times to make a point. However, the best part has been being able to meet
you all and get to know a little bit about the people I have heard about, and
in many cases, get it right from the horse's mouth. Thanks for respecting
this forum for what it is and helping someone like me learn about something
that for some strange reason is a passion for me.
