Sorry to put you off for a bit.

OK here we go!

I have had a lot of fun with Dean Jensen playing with TA,B and C body
numbers. We have over 100 now and patterns are emerging. My one regret is
that I haven't yet been able to get hold of the body numbers for TCs which
Roger Furneaux holds as he hasn't yet had time to collate them, but he has
sent all the TA and TB numbers he has. One interesting conclusion is that the
TC body numbers we have are NOT all over the place and we can draw some
interesting conclusions. For example for several groups of chassis numbers I
can be more than 90% certain I can tell you the body number prefix, which
went with a particular chassis number. I can't do anything about the suffix
though, except give general ranges. I think this is what you were saying in
your e-mail. If you look at the spreadsheet you will see I have a formula to
predict body prefix numbers. I have shown these, where they can be
calculated, in red. As we get more numbers then this range of calculated
numbers should grow.

In your case, your TC fits in a sequence where I can pick the body prefix
exactly (probability in my view 90-98%). Your car is TC 7812 this gives you a
body prefix of 7584, and therefore a complete body number of 7584 A 37929.

Since you haven't told me what numbers you can read from the prefix on your
body plate you will appreciate I can't fix the odds. So tell me - does that
agree with the digits you do know?

I am sending you the spreadsheet too, and making it available to all. Its a
bit of a mess at the moment. If you don't understand something e-mail me and
I'll try to explain. It's an Excel for Windows 95 version 7.0a spreadsheet so
I hope you can handle it.

Look forward to hearing back, and please if the spreadsheet does not have any
of the numbers you have, could you let Dean Jensen and I have them? Thanks.

Hi, Mike,
My body is a B280 also, and I have the original plate, which I removed prior
to replacing the wood. I've never reinstalled it because I wasn't sure of
its proper location. I think it goes midway up the passenger side post below
the windscreen. When I come across another TC, I'll take the measurement. Do
any on the list have this information at their fingertips?

Mike,
Since I don;t have Excell on my Mac, I don't think I can open your
spreadsheet to verify that it contains my TC's numbers. However, here they
are for your edification and enjoyment:
Chassis # 6756
Engine # XPAG 7470
Body Type B-260
Body # 6530 A 3253

I can attest that none of these numbers / plates have been altered since
I bought the car in the Fall of 1953. The car and all its components have
been in my custody continuously all of that time.
