For those that are interested in changing their settings in Yahool
Groups here are some pointers. Yahoo keeps changing the set up to
get in so I don't know what screens pop up in the process anymore but
try these steps as they are pretty close. Please note that Yahoo
Groups is seperate and different from our TABC web site and is used
to change your subscription settings plus view archived messages (but
you can access old messages from the TABC web site now as well).
1. Each person registers with Yahoo Groups as an individual. You
make up your own Yahoo ID and password. Start with the web site:
http://groups.yahoo.com/
2. Click on any one of the several links to register and fill out the
boxes with your info. The Yahoo ID is of your choosing as long as
someone else has not already used it. Make it easy as you can as you
have to remember it and type it in each time you enter. Ditto on the
password. You will be asked for an alternate email - use the one you
are on the TABC list with if you have more than one email address.
3. Somewhere along the way it will ask if you want a Yahoo email
address. It is not a requirement and I would decline as it just
confuses the process but it is up to you. You could always get one
later if you really want it.
4. Another step you have to do is verify your email address with
Yahoo. I am not sure when you are asked to do this, but maybe during
the initial registration process. To verify they will send a code
to your email address (again, use the one you are on the TABC list
with). Once you have the code you enter it in where they tell you
and then you are verified. They usually send the code out within the
hour but sometimes it is longer. If the verification process isn't
done in the initial registration then you will have to go to "Account
Info" to do that.
5. Hopefully that will bring up the TABC group up on your Group list
in Yahoo. If not, or if it is there but you cannot access the
archives and other info, then you have to link your email address to
the TABC group. This is is done through the "My Groups" link. This
may involve doing another verification of your email.
6. As you can see there is alot of linking and verifiying that Yahoo
makes you do. You will be asked for your password a million times
too. The whole process will test your patience.
Don't bother searching for TABC or mg-tabc in the "Join a Group".
For some reason it is hidden.
Once fully registered you can change your subscription options and
view the archives.
Good luck. If you have any problems in the registration process feel
