Welcome our newest member (# 243)

Moreau, Pierre-----------pierrejan@worldnet.att.net-------Tallahassee, FL, USA
1949 TC 7669 XPAG 8413

======and now a word about car badges

Several members have asked about the cost and where to send it the money.
Austin Baer (lazybear@montrose.net) is in the process of determining cost. I
am sure he is talking with the vendor about cost for the 136 badges currently
ordered, as well as how much for future orders (for future members) etc.
Also to be decided is how the delivery will be handled (cost of shipping)
etc. Additionally, there is the issue of the artwork (prints suitable for
framing) and whether that should be integrated with the purchase and delivery
of the car badges. So, even though we are all anxious to get these lovely
badges affixed to our cars - please be patient - all good things are worth
waiting for.

====and just in case you haven't seen the http://mg-tabc.org/logot.htm">T-ABC car badge

you can see it at -> http://mg-tabc.org/logot.htm

====and if you haven't yet ordered one, you still have time

just send your order to Jim Shade

(I have just sent an email titled BADGES to members who have ordered badges -
if you ordered a badge and did not receive that email please let me know)

I just thought you might like to know that 3 out of the last 4 new TABC
members were recruited by Carl Fritz (CFritz7001@aol.com). By my count, he's
recruited at least 11 members. Carl says "It's easy, just get them to look
at the OUSTSANDING TABC website!!"

====and Walter says

The cost of maintaining the new List site is less - $5 annually should cover
it.

=====So - I have incorporated that in the message that I now send to all new
members - as follows:

OUR WEBSITE

Walter Prechsl has created a T-ABC Website that now has photos of members and
their cars, names of suppliers, available literature, special files, etc. You
can visit the http://mg-tabc.org/">T-ABCs site at
http://www.mg-tabc.org

While membership in this organization is free, It has been suggested that
each member consider contributing to the cost of maintaining the T-ABC
Website and the T-ABC List - The suggested amount is $5 (US) annually.
Contributions should be mailed directly to

Walter Prechsl
Publishing Systems Consultancy
Kappelaecker 10

PHOTOS AND BIO'S

Members are encouraged to send photos of themselves and their cars along with
a brief biography for posting on the website.

Photos may be (1) emailed to Walter at pre@publi-consult.com, or
(2) faxed to phone # +49-(0)7130--46051, or
(3) snail mailed to

This car was originally red and we are investigating it's history. We know
that it originally came from the County Armagh area in N I and possibly used
for smuggling across the border with the Republic of Ireland! It was also
owned in the Londonderry area for a while. Other owners included Billy
Leeper who we believe practised for the Dundrod TT races. The engine blew up
and is now in Simon Thomas' TC special after residing in an ice cream van for
a while. Also Jack Watson, the Uncle of Grands Prix star John Watson owned
it and gave John one of his first driving lessons in it. When we purchased
it as a wreck we ran it for a couple of years, including the UVCC's Ards TT
retrospective event in 1993. The car is now campaigned regularly in Trials,
Autotests, Hillclimbs, sprints and Rallys. I've attached an old photograph
from 1983 at Croft Hillclimb (run on closed public roads) just behind where
we live.

I read about you in this month's "Safety Fast!", particularly the notes by
Paddy Willmer. My wife Penny & I have a 1996 MGF, a 1970 MGB GT, a 1947 MG
TC and a 1934 MG PA. On particular I am looking at the moment for the
steering cam & peg for the steering box. Can anyone help please?

Please correct the spelling of Joe Curto to Curto not Cutro.
Joe will bring a wealth of information on carbs and electrics to the group. That TD he has is a pretty hot car also, even if it's a bit to modern.
