Available Austins Ltd; a UK company are selling repro. Luvax style
shockabsorbers at 110 each. The distance between bolt holes is 4 inches as
TA. The diameter of the body appears to be slightly smaller than original
TA. Has anyone used these?.....Bob

Dear Bob,

I wonder if these are the Type A Luvax which are different than the Type AR
that are used on the TA/B, I believe. I have a set of the Type A which have
a smaller diameter than the AR. The LUVAX TYPE A are in high raised
lettering on the body-higher than on the AR. They appear to be a cast
rather than reversed pressed into the stamped cover of the AR.
I spoke to Graham Brown in the UK who is the master in these Luvax
shockers,
and it seems the type A were used on smaller cars or 'less sporting' as the
Austin
salon?

Barry Walker is quoting 690 to 710 bucks [382-392 pounds] for the repro Type
AR,
so this is a find or what?

If you want to discuss further, or are interested in Type A let me know.
I would like to clean the shelf of the A's as I have no need of them- are
rebuilt by Graham, and are really clean with crisp relief, nicely done in
epoxy
and I would finish them in an aliphatic two pack urethane black.
I got these shockers when I was trying to get the AR's for the TB.

I assume you guys are thinking of using the P.6 Luvax shocks that were shown
as an option for the TA-B?

Don't know whether to jump into this or not: I have a TA equipped by the
factory with Luvax, Type BR, vane shocks. The car was built with competition
options, and I assume these shocks are one of the options. They have a 4
1/8" diameter "can" and mount with two bolts, whose centerlines are 5
1/8": apart. The vane shaft, onto which the linkage arm clamps, is 13/16 ths
inches in diameter. Don't know if this is useful info for anyone, or not.
